NORTON — Greenish seniors Alyssa Ziehler and Bri Hunt had plenty of reasons to smile Monday night post-obit a victory in an all-star game at Norton High School.

Ziehler and Chase each played well and they heard a familiar voice on the sidelines in Green passenger vehicle Alicia Manning to lead the Summit Stars to a seventy-53 win over the Akron Metropolis Stars in the nightcap of the Women's Tri-County Basketball Coaches Association almanac senior All-Star Games.

Ziehler led the Summit Stars with 21 points, eleven rebounds, three steals, 2 assists and 2 blocks. Hunt contributed eight points and iv assists.

"As presently as nosotros saw who was on our team, we started talking, we were jelling, nosotros were dancing and we were having fun," Ziehler said. "This was our final game and we wanted to go out with a bang. We were all having fun."

The two senior all-star games featured players from schools located in Summit, Portage and Medina counties.

"Information technology is a pleasure to coach Alyssa and Bri everytime I accept been able to autobus them the final three years that I have been with them," Manning said. "To take another opportunity to practise that, manifestly I needed to accept that. These 2 are phenomenal kids. You lot could tell on the floor that they obviously know each other's tendencies."

Stow's Kristin Chmielewski totaled 11 points, v rebounds, three steals and two blocks for the Summit Stars, and got to squad upward with Hudson's Ali Menendez (8 points).

"Since I can remember, nosotros accept played against each other," Chmielewski said of playing with Menendez on the aforementioned team. "This was the showtime time we got to play with each other. It was actually absurd. I was looking forward to this. I had a lot of fun."

Said Menendez: "Ever since third grade we have been playing against each other. We have been high school rivals. Information technology was good to be teammates in our high school jerseys. ... Information technology is actually absurd to have this experience and play one terminal time in the high school jersey."

The Summit Stars also received solid efforts from Manchester'due south Emma Stamperd (nine points), Twinsburg's Logan Pride (4 points, four rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals) and Makayla Busicnki (5 rebounds), Springfield'southward Ellie Gardinier (iv points), Stow'south Emily Ervin (iii points) and Nordonia's Kennedy Syllaba (two points, two assists).

"Overall, this was a really fun feel," Chase said. "Being able to play with these unlike girls that I have never played with or talked with, and jelling with them so well and playing an amazing game was actually awesome. I ever enjoy playing with Alyssa. Nosotros are similar two peas in a pod. Nosotros jel so well."

Archbishop Hoban senior Lanae Riley paced the Akron City Stars with 26 points, 10 rebounds, two assists, ii blocks and 2 steals. Kenmore-Garfield's QuiMari Shelton had eleven points, seven rebounds and three steals, Norton'south Grace Marino scored five points and Grand-G's Briana Bunkley added four points and four rebounds.

Medina County rivals win together

Medina's Leora Owings and Hailey Tripp teamed up with Wadsworth's Regan Simpson and Ky'Sonna Won and Buckeye'southward Autumn Meyer to atomic number 82 the Medina-Suburban Stars to a 59-44 victory over the Portage-Metro Athletic Briefing Stars in Monday'due south opening WTCBCA senior All-Star Games.

"It was definitely a step up playing with Division I players," Meyer said. "I come up from a very tiny school compared to them, so it was nice playing with them. I feel like having never played together before tonight, we all however had a pretty good connection. We all were able to feel each other out and know what each other could practice pretty easily."

Meyer scored 11 points and grabbed vi rebounds. Tripp and Simpson both finished with ten points and five rebounds.

Tripp described Mon as "a actually good experience."

Simpson liked how she and her teammates were able to consistently "brand the extra laissez passer to make a adept shot a meliorate shot."

Owings filled the stat sheet with eight points, 11 rebounds, two assists and two steals.

"Information technology was really prissy playing with people that I usually play against," Owings said. "It was fun existence on their team this time and information technology was corking being on the courtroom one concluding fourth dimension."

Highland'due south Delaney Lawson (eight points, iii assists) and Madison Miller (four points, 3 assists) as well made an touch for the Medina-Suburban Stars.

"I knew some of the girls on the team, so I knew how they played and their names," Won said. "I feel like we played really well together."

Barberton coach Ken Rector enjoyed working with the Medina-Suburban Stars, which as well included Magics senior An'Taniyha Easter and Laney Kaisk.

"You could tell even earlier we started the game that they were familiar with each other and they knew each other," Rector said of the Medina County players. "It was squeamish to be able to give them a chance to play together one more time. I remember that is the best office nigh these games, is these girls that have been competing against each other get the opportunity to play together."

Norton's Bailey Shutsa and Gabby Destefano paced the Portage-MAC Stars with 13 points and six points, respectively. Shutsa, Destefano and Marino helped lead Norton to a Sectionalization II state semifinal appearance at the University of Dayton last week.

Streetsboro's Mariah Embry had 5 points and five rebounds and Cloverleaf's Laurell Chocolate-brown totaled 4 points and 5 rebounds for the Portage-MAC Stars.
